The Type S Is BACK!

Awesome news in the Acura world lately! Acura finally decided to bring back A-Spec and Type S models back into their line up of cars. This answers many of our prayers among the true enthusiast.

Back track 10 years ago, Acura's last True Type S car was the 2008 Acura TL Type S, 4-door sedan powered by a 3.5 V6 VTEC engine, equipped with sport styling, Brembo brakes and quad exhaust. Before that, It was the 2005/06 Acura RSX Type S which was their 2-door coupe (hatchback) in their line up also powered by a 4-cyl VTEC engine.

It's being a while since Acura was on top of their game when it came to Sport cars. From 2009 until 2017 their cars were a bit on the "safe" side, only focusing on "Luxury" and nothing else. I think this confused many of their current customers at the time, which loved the Type S models. In return, Acura started to lose their Performance image that they once were known for.

Starting 2018, Acura made a "trial" car, the 2018 Acura TLX A-Spec!, this ignited a lot of buzz within the brand. Selling many units of the gorgeous car. They immediately knew they had to make it official by bringing the A-Spec and Type S models back into their line up.

In the upcoming years, we will see many A-Spec and Type S models in Acura's line up. I am very excited to see how they pull it off. Hopefully, they play their cards right, as this can be a great opportunity to gain back their lost customers as well as new ones.

My guess would be, Acura will refresh the Acura ILX next. I believe they will add the 2.0L VTEC Turbo found on the Type R on that platform. I think this will be the first Type S model for the revamp of the brand.

What are your thoughts on the this? Are you happy? Would you want a New RSX Type S back into Acura's line up? Feel free to leave your comment below!
